Our History – During the Irish Famine of 1845-1849, many Irish people emigrated, not only to the USA and Canada, but also to the west coast of the UK mainland. To facilitate for their spiritual needs, Bishop Trower of Glasgow established a Mission and hired a hall in 1851.
In 1856, a Building Committee was established and funds raised to buy the land on which the church is now built.
The Building as you see it today was built in stages, with the design and work of the nave, chancel, organ loft and sacristy carried out by James Wallace, a member of Holy Trinity.
1857 – Nave
1859 – Parsonage
1876 – Chancel, Organ Loft and Sacristy
1896 – Large hall and original Vestry (now Kitchen)
1965 – Small hall and Ladies anteroom/toilets.
